Blog posting made easy - how to post your documents to a blog
Wow, a blog article about blogging - how meta.
One of the great services of ThinkFree Online is that you can now, with a few clicks, publish a live document to your blog. No more attaching documents that require other software to view. No more having to export documents to other formats that change the layout of your work.
Add variety to your blog with spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation files. Make your blog stand out from the rest.
When posting to your blog you have two options. You can post documents either as HTML or as an Icon.
We recently made some changes to our blog posting function, so now is the perfect time to try it out.
Here are the instructions to get you started:
- Starting a Blog
First you will need to set up a blog. If you have already done so you can skip to step two. Otherwise you can choose from a variety of blog services freely available. Wikipedia has an article on Blog Software that includes links to Developer-hosted Blog Services where you can sign up for a free blog site. - Setting up Blogs in ThinkFree Online
After signing up, go to ‘MY ACCOUNT>SET UP BLOG’ menu.
Choose your blog service first, then type your blog ID and password. The Endpoint URL will be inserted automatically, or you may need to type it yourself. It depends on your blog service. You can easily set up multiple weblogs. - Posting Documents to Blogs
From the list of documents at ‘MY OFFICE’, choose a document to post to a blog.
There is a drop-down menu on the same line as the file. In the drop-down menu, select ‘Post to blog’ which brings you to the ‘Post to blog’ page. Fill out the necessary information and click ‘OK’. You will then receive confirmation that you have successfully posted your document. - Checking Your Blog Posting
In order to check the resulting post to see if the output is as you desired by following the link in the confimartion page or by going to your blog directly. - Changing Your Blog Posting
If you want to stop posting a document to the blog, go to ‘MY OFFICE’ and click ‘STOP PUBLISHING’. Although the blog posting is stopped, the document remains at ThinkFree as a private document. Private documents are only viewable by you.
Here is another Tip when posting to a blog.
You can also post work from other ThinkFree memebs to your blog by going to DOC EXCHANGE and choosing from the various published documents. If you find a document that you like, you can copy it to ‘MY OFFICE’ and post it to your blog. When posting the work of other people you MUST abide by any Creative Commons licenses that protect the intellectual property of that work.
So go crazy, get creative, post anything and everything!
